Photo Help Desk (PHD) is a Windows program designed for the serious photographer or digital artist. This person, whether advanced amateur or professional, often adds hundreds of images to the PC every week and so the photographer needs versatile ways to view, organize, and rank the new additions relative to the complete collection, and a convenient way to share these new images with associates.

Over time, the serious photographer will amass thousands to hundreds of thousands of images on the PC. PHD manages such large collections with ease. The effect of all the PHD features working together is to maximize your enjoyment of viewing your collection of digital images and sharing it with others, and to provide a level of control over this viewing that is at the forefront of the industry.

Viewing is performed full-screen in "Photo Shows," and there are powerful ways in which you can interact with each image as it is displayed. When running a Photo Show, at the bottom of each image you can display its file system path and image metadata tags imbedded in the image, including comments you might have added to the image with PHD itself. You can also view your collection in a variety of orders: sorted and unsorted, by size, and randomly. You will often be surprised and delighted if you view your images randomly: images will pop up that you had entirely forgotten about.

Organizing includes easy to use and versatile batch resizing and renaming of images. It also includes setting subjective metadata, such as image titles, comments, and copyrights. Copyright thousands of images with a single mouse click. Finally, you can filter out images based on objective metadata, such as shutter speed and f/stop.

Image ranking includes automatically separating images into several value levels. Sharing is performed by emailing images to recipients of your choice, as PHD displays each image in a Photo Show. A full featured email facility is embedded directly within Photo Shows.
