"Batch image renaming/resizing at its best!"

Overview

When you have tons of images and want to resize them or convert them to another format, then only a few tools will do the job fast, without lagging and crashing. Image Tuner is one of them and guarantees quick and effortless batch image processing tasks in a modern environment that is easy to use. Features include support for the most popular file formats, resizing by percent or preset profiles (for iPad, iPhone, Facebook, etc.), transformation of the images (rotate, flip, sharpen, etc.) and many other features.

Installation

Once you run the installer you will be prompted to choose the desired installation language. Afterwards the installation wizard will appear and guide you through the whole process. At some point you’ll be asked whether you want to install AVG Security Toolbar (compatible with Internet Explorer and Firefox) and set and maintain AVG Secure Search as the default search provider and homepage (compatible with Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer). After a few steps the installation will finish and you can start using the product.

It can run under Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8 (32 and 64 bit).

Interface

The interface is very clean and all the features all well-ordered so that the user will not have any trouble becoming familiar with the program. Below the menu bar is a toolbar with some quick access buttons (New Project, Open Project, Save Project, Add folder with images, Add images, Remove selected and Process images.). In the main area of the window you can see a box with a list of all the added images and information on them displayed in columns (Name, Resolution, Type and Path). On the upper part of the window, next to that box is the area where a preview of the selected image is shown and right below it is a panel where you can choose the settings you wish to make, split into 4 categories: Resize, Watermark, Convert, Rename and Effects.

Pros

Image Tuner is very simple and will confuse no one; all you have to do is add the images you want to process, and then from the settings panel select the changes you want to apply. The supported file formats are JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF, PCX and more, with support for RAW files as well (CRW, CR2, RAW, NEF, DCR, X3F, ORF etc.).

You can resize your images by percentage, preset size for iPod, iPhone, DVD NTSC/PAL, Facebook, 800x600 and 1024x768 or pick a custom size manually. You can add a watermark as well; just define the path of the image that is going to be used as a watermark and select its position. For futher processing you can add several filters. For example you can flip or rotate the image, sharpen it, adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, hue and saturation.

Cons

It could be more attractive with less 3rd party software bundled with it.

Alternatives

Some good batch image converters are Phatch (free), FastStone Photo Resizer (paid), XnConvert (free) and ImageConverter Plus (paid).

Conclusion

Very good product that is definitely going to help you in your batch image resizing, renaming, conversion and watermarking jobs.
