"Fork of PuTTY"

Overview

KiTTY is a fork of the popular PuTTY application. The software is a Telnet and SSH client that is ported over to Windows.

There are many features that are included in this version to make it more worthwhile. Connect via Raw, Telnet, Rlogin, SSH and Serial. Just type in the IP address or URL to attempt a connection.

Save sessions in a list and easily create folders to add them to. Scripts can also be created to enable automatic login in the future.

Zmodem is integrated for people who use it. SSH handling is included for secure communications.

The application is also portable which means it can be added to a USB flash drive.

Installation

KiTTY is a portable application and so it does not need to be installed.

There was no adware, toolbars, spyware or malware included with the setup package.

KiTTY requires Windows OS.

Interface

The interface is quite attractive considering this is just a tool for using telnet and SSH communications.

The list of categories are shown down the left side of the application window. These have their own groups which are individually collapsible to only show what is needed. Initially all categories and sections are displayed for the user.

To the right is an area to add the host name or IP address to connect to. The selected port number is shown to the right of the address text box and both fields can be changed manually.

The connection type is shown below as a series of radio buttons one of which can be selected at a time. These are Raw, Telnet, Rlogin, SSH and Serial.

A session list is shown below the connection options. New folders can be created to place a session file into. There is also the option to choose whether to close the application when closing the window, with three choices with that.
