"Application for entertainment and leisure."

Overview

Unfortunately there aren’t many applications which give users the ability to create their own fun designs without spending a lifetime mastering the programs themselves. There is however one application called ArtScope, which simulates the functionality of a kaleidoscope and allows users to create their own kaleidoscope images in a user-friendly interface. The program supports creating, configuring and animating kaleidoscope patterns easily and without much trouble, due to its several implemented features that even an amateur PC user or child could use.

Installation

After you have downloaded the archive that contains the setup package, extract it to a temporary location and run the installer (ArtScope.msi). The installation procedure will begin, which is quite short and straightforward. In fact, after the installation wizard opens, you have to click Next twice and then the main installation process will begin! That’s right, not even a single setting for you to configure. Once the installation is complete (will not take more than a minute) the program is ready to be used.

No viruses, trojans or other kinds of malware are included in the program (check our antivirus report), and no 3rd-party software are installed either.

Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 (32/64-bit).

Interface

The program runs in full screen initially, but you can resize it by dragging the arrow located at the bottom right corner. In the home screen you are asked whether you want to create a new project, load an existing one or just open one of the available sample projects. At the bottom of the window is the toolbar, filled with several buttons used for creating the kaleidoscope pattern and adjusting its animation settings. Among these buttons you can also save your project, create a new one, load a previously saved on, as well as open the help file.

Pros

Once you have started a new project (or loaded a sample) you can do all sorts of stuff. Begin by adding a background image, if the project is new, from the list of available images. Then you can adjust the sliders from the toolbar in order to adjust various properties, e.g. set the tile’s rotation velocity, opacity, FPS (Frames Per Second) as well as change the pattern of the background image.

You can also add a clock to the animation. The program has various beautiful clocks included, so you should try them out.

If you wish, you can also separate the background from the pattern and then make the background transparent, so that you can watch the animation on top of your desktop wallpaper or a website.

Cons

No cons in this program.

Alternatives

Kaleidoscope Kreator 3 is a shareware program for creating fun kaleidoscope designs, although it doesn’t have as many features as ArtScope. Another alternative is PhotoEchoes (paid), which is very similar to Kaleidoscope Kreator 3.

Conclusion

ArtScope is a very entertaining tool that anyone can use- from beginners to advanced users. It has plenty of features that will help you customize your kaleidoscope patterns to make them exactly how you imagine them, so stop thinking about it and get it now!
