Volser is a JNI and C++ coded application which aims to obtain the 4-byte binary volume series number in 32-bit for the hard disk drive being used as the primary Windows drive. The package runs as a standalone app or as a class that can be used programmatically. Volser runs as a JNI library and it has a native method coded in which can be “called” from within a Java application in order to obtain the hard disk drive information at that time. There is a set method in order to pass the information over to the Volser in order to communicate correctly with it and receive the correct response.
