"TCP/IP Manager v4.1.1 (Build 29)"

Overview

TCP/IP Manager is a software package that can save several different network profiles for when the PC is being used on different corporate or home networks and needs to effortlessly switch between them. The software can provide a system tray icon to make it a cinch to move between network profiles with ease.

TCP/IP settings can include multiple IP information, gateway information and DNS server information. There is support for switching between workgroups names, computers and proxy settings. MAC address can be spoofed in order to get around any MAC-address specific blocking.

Both hot keys and a system tray tool can help switch quickly between network profiles. The main interface allows the user to create, edit, modify, rename or delete network profiles as needed. Current settings can also be imported to populate the fields quickly.

The software may be configured to run at Windows startup so that it'll ready when it is needed.

Installation

The installation requires 3.7 MB of available space to install the software. The installation completed without any difficulties.

There was no adware, toolbars, spyware or other unnecessary addition to the distribution.

TCP/IP Manager requires Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 or Windows Server 2003.

Interface

The interface is clean and straightforward for anyone who works with network configurations and IP addresses often.

There is a short menu system at the top of the interface with a few options. Below this is a drop-down list of saved network profiles (which is initially empty). There are button options to save a profile, create a new profile, rename a current profile, and remove a current profile.

The network profile itself is shown in a series of informational tabs for Profile settings, TCP/IP settings, Proxy settings and Advanced settings.

The correct network settings can be configured and saved as a profile, then reloaded when changing to a different network (like when moving from a business network to a different branch office or back to a home office network).

Pros

  • Save multiple network profiles with details setup information
  • Load correct information without needing to configure each time
  • Create new edit, rename or delete profiles
  • Access profile settings, TCP/IP settings, Proxy settings and Advanced settings all from a small application

Cons

None.

Alternatives

TCP Optimizer helps to tweak and change the TCP/IP settings on the computer.

Conclusion

TCP/IP Manager is a handy little network profile tool that can save all the pertinent network information and let the user switch between different network profile depending on their needs.
