"KeyScrambler protects you from keyloggers."

Overview

KeyScrambler Personal is a browser plugin that protects your personal data by encrypting your keystrokes. It integrates deeply within the system, at the keyboard driver level, and is extremely difficult for keyloggers to overcome. Keyloggers, in this case, if present on your computer, would only be able to capture the ineligible gibberish encrypted by KeyScrambler. KeyScrambler technology has been tested and is being tested on an ongoing basis by programmers and tech wizards, and the online reviews are excellent. The powerful algorithms encrypt your keystrokes as you type, and decrypt them as they reach their destination.

KeyScrambler comes in three versions – Personal, which is free for personal use, Pro $29.99 for three PCs, and Premium $44.99 for up to three computers.

Installation

KeyScrambler Personal installs politely, bringing no apparent third party software, bundles and toolbars. The wizard asks you if you would like to check for the latest version of the software before it proceeds with installation. It will require a reboot after the installation is finished.

KeyScrambler supports Windows 8, 7, 2003, XP, Vista both 32 and 64 bit systems. It also supports encryption of Asian languages: Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Interface

Zero learning curve, zero maintenance, zero interference with your system settings, almost zero customization and 0.5% GUI – KeyScrambler lives in your Taskbar. You can open its window by right-clicking on the icon, and see the scarce customization options. There is no GUI as such, and not much to customize, either. You can set the KeyScrambler’s notification window float in a specific position above your browser. When you launch your browser, you will see an unobtrusive green area that displays the real-time encryption of any keystrokes that reach your browser. You can also enter the customization window from there by clicking on the settings icon. That’s it for the GUI department. There is not much to learn or master here – it is easy for novice users.

Features

- A preventive approach has proved to be efficient in protecting users’ private information. Powerful cryptographic algorithms defeat known and unknown keyloggers, as well as keylogging malware, “even on security compromised computers.”

- KeyScrambler uses very little of your system resources to run and offers protection for 32 browsers (in the free version), and 170+ popular software (in paid versions).

- KeyScrambler is compatible with most antivirus programs and authentication tokens and smart cards.

- The green overlay window keeps you updated that the program is running, and your keystrokes are being encrypted.

Pros

KeyScrambler offers a powerful web browser plugin for keystrokes encryption. Paid versions offer extensive support for more than 170 popular programs.

It requires no learning curve, or technical skills. Its installation is simple; its maintenance is inexistent, it consumes insignificant amount of system resources, and finally, it is compatible with most antivirus suites and many popular programs.

Cons

KeyScrambler is light and powerful, but it does not detect keyloggers; it only protects against them.

The program does not protect against screen capture, video capture, clipboard capture.

Alternatives

Zemana Antilogger and Oxynger KeyShield remain on top of our list, even though Zemana is paid. KeyLogger Detector is also light and scans your PC for keylogger-relevant activity, instead of known signatures, thus detecting the keylogger by its action, not by signature.

Conclusion

KeyScrambler Personal is certainly a must-have browser plugin for the security-minded folks. We certainly recommend you install it. For those of you who prefer to go extra-mile in their security, we suggest you visit the developer’s website and see the comprehensive comparison chart for the three versions – you might be extremely satisfied to see the list of programs KeyScrambler protects in paid editions. Despite the comprehensive approach to key strokes anti-login, KeyScrambler does not protect your activity from webcam capture, screen capture, or clipboard capture, so be sure you understand the difference.
