"Fix, clean, defrag and tune-up Windows"

Overview:

The free version of System Mechanic comes with the ability to defrag hard drives, repair your registry, optimize your RAM, clean up junk files, and improve overall system speed, performance, and stability. Suprisingly enough, the free version of System Mechanic can get your PC running really well, and you'll be very surprised by the speed and performance boosts you encounter after fully utilizing the program.

There's also a paid version of System Mechanic you can buy that has over 70 features to explore and fix your pc with.

Installation:

Installation of System Mechanic only takes a few minutes. The file download size is only about 41 megabytes, which for the features the program includes is a pretty compact file size. Iolo is a very respectable company that doesn't bundle their products with any adware/spyware, so you don't have to worry about that aspect of things. If you have a registration code for the full version, you can enter it in during installation, and if you don't, you can select the free version, which is fully functional for most tasks and doesn't expire.

System Mechanic Free is compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. It works on Windows 10 TP too. And, since the download and installation file is so small, there's really not any PC hardware requirements to speak of. It should work with nearly any machine out there that has a reasonable amount of system resources.

Interface:

The interface of System Mechanic is really well designed and has easy navigation menus, and there's a lot you can accomplish with the Free version. You can defrag your hard disks, repair the registry, eliminate system clutter, find duplicate files, uninstall programs and more.

Graphically, it's a real pleasure to work with and you'll find that everything is easy to view, access, and control.

Pros:

  • Totally Free Version Has Lots Of System Enhancing Features
  • You Can Upgrade To The Paid Version At Any Time For 70+ Actions, Including the Incredible LiveBoost Feature
  • Well Designed And Really Works To Speed Up Your PC And Boost Performance

Cons:

  • With The Free Version, You Can't Optimize Your Internet Connection For Maximum Speed
  • The Free Version Doesn't Allow You To Update Driver Sets Either
  • LiveBoosts Sits In Tray But Only Works In The Pro Version

Alternatives

TuneUp Utilities - With this all-in-one PC tool suite, you can boost your PC's performance, clean up unwanted file clutter, analyze and fix problems, activate battery power saving modes for laptops, and more. It's compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista, and Windows XP, so no matter how old or new your PC is, it will probably work with the OS you have.

Acelogix Software System TuneUp - With this software, you can fix many problems that may be slowing down your PC and finally get it performing like new again. You'd be surprised at just how messed up things can get with your hard drive, and with this set of tune up tools, you can get things normal again.

Conclusion:

With System Mechanic Free, Iolo Technologies has really outdone themselves. This is the totally free version of their full System Mechanic Professional program. The free version is able to speed up your PC and lots more. We're happy it's free, and it's really a "must have" for most people that want to keep a clean and tidy hard drive. While it lacks all the amazing features of the full version, it's still certainly worth downloading for the performance boost it offers PC users. Remember, with this totally free program, you can install it on as many PCs as you like with nothing to pay!
